Vauxhall’s Insignia Grand Sport has been chosen by Britain’s chauffeurs and minicab drivers as Private Hire Car of the Year, 2019.
The Insignia triumphed over its rivals in the 2019 Professional Driver car of the Year Awards thanks to a combination of great driveability and cavernous interior space.
“The large saloon market is still very important to the private hire sector,” said Mark Bursa, Editor of Professional Driver. “Operators are looking for vehicles with plenty of rear seat room and enough boot space to carry passengers’ luggage too.
“The Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport is one of the biggest cars in the sector, and that was one of the main reasons it proved so popular on the judging day. It’s also a great car to drive, and that’s vitally important too for drivers who spend their entire working day at the wheel.”
The Professional Driver Awards are among the most rigorous in the automotive industry. There are nine categories in total, and a two-day judging event is held in September.
The Professional Driver Car of the Year is chosen from the nine category winners, and the awards were announced at the Professional Driver Awards dinner on 21st November 2019.
