PARENTS Magazine Names Volkswagen Atlas a 2020 Best Family Car

Volkswagen of America, Inc. is proud to announce that the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas has been named to the PARENTS magazine Best Family Cars of 2020 list.

The testing team at PARENTS magazine commended the Atlas for its comfortable driving experience and safety features, its car-seat compatibility because of its bench-style second-row seating and that Atlas has available three-zone climate control, allowing passengers to adjust heating and cooling to their own needs.

PARENTS magazine considers three primary sets of information when compiling the list:

• Crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration—only models that receive a five-star overall safety rating are eligible
• Car-seat checks conducted by child-passenger safety technician Abbie Patterson, owner of the consulting company Super Car Seat Geek
• Behind the wheel tests by Auto Reporter Rob Stumpf to evaluate braking, steering, acceleration, technology and more

The Volkswagen Atlas was introduced in Spring 2017 as the brand’s first three-row SUV. Designed specifically for the American family, the 2020 Atlas is available with two engine options—a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6—and in seven trim levels: S, SE, SE w/ Technology, SE w/Technology R-Line® SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium. Volkswagen’s 4Motion® all-wheel drive is available on every trim and standard on SEL Premium models.

All Atlas models are equipped with the next-generation Car-Net® telematics system for in-vehicle infotainment, including a long list of no-charge services for five years, and also has in-car Wi-Fi capability when drivers subscribe to a data plan. The three-row SUV also offers standard Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring (Front Assist), Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert on every model. Available driver-assistance technology includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist), Park Distance Control, Parking Steering Assistant (Park Assist), High Beam Control (Light Assist), and Overhead View Camera (Area View).

Atlas, along with the rest of the 2020 Volkswagen family comes with a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and Carefree Maintenance Program. The warranty provides coverage for four years or 50,000-miles (whichever occurs first), and can be transferred to a subsequent owner throughout the remainder of its duration. The Carefree Maintenance Program provides scheduled maintenance services for 2 years or 20,000 miles (whichever occurs first) at no additional charge, and can be transferred to a subsequent owner throughout the remainder of its duration. The Atlas is assembled in Volkswagen’s state-of-the-art plant in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Pricing for the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas 2.0-liter starts at $31,545 for the S model; 3.6-liter models start at $34,745 for the S 4Motion®. The destination charge for all Atlas models is an additional $1,020.
