Nissan’s leadership on climate change recognized by CDP

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.’s actions to combat climate change have been recognized by the nonprofit organization CDP, which named Nissan to its 2019 `A List’ of companies leading the fight.

“Nissan is committed to establishing a new level of cooperative relationship with our business partners and other stakeholders, and to accelerate our efforts toward the realization of a more sustainable mobility society” Nissan Corporate Vice President Tsuyoshi Tatsumi said at a reporting session for the CDP 2019 Japan Report.

CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard for corporate environmental transparency. More than 525 investors, holding more than $96 trillion in assets, and 125 major purchasers representing $3.6 trillion in procurement spending asked companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP’s platform in 2019. More than 8,400 companies responded.

Environmental sustainability leadership
Nissan is working actively to identify and minimize the direct and indirect impacts of its business on the environment. In 2019, the company took another step to promote environmental sustainability as it unveiled the Nissan Ariya Concept, an all-electric crossover SUV. The company also recently introduced its Nissan Intelligent Factory strategy to produce vehicles more efficiently, including more electrified and zero-emission cars.

Nissan will continue to address environmental challenges by developing climate change scenarios to increase the company’s resilience. The company will continue to disclose information in line with the framework recommended by the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. This will help Nissan share information with investors and other stakeholders in a more easy-to-understand manner.
