MITSUBISHI MOTORS IN THE UK RECORDS STRONGEST MITSUBISHI L200 SALES IN TWELVE YEARS

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has ended 2019 with the highest calendar-year sales of L200 pick-up trucks in twelve years.

Registrations of the Mitsubishi L200 totalled 10,125† units in 2019, a 9.5% increase over 2018 (9,246 units) and the strongest sales year since 2007, outperforming the UK pick-up truck market which decreased overall volumes by 1.1% year-on-year.

Strong demand for the award-winning pick-up truck was due in large part to the release of the new Mitsubishi L200 Series 6 in August 2019, priced from £21,735 CVOTR for the Club Cab 4Life and £22,940 CVOTR for Double Cab versions. Thanks to its bold looks, renowned all-round capability and high specification, sales of the new Mitsubishi L200 topped 580 units in December, an increase of 55% compared to December 2018.

The new range-topping Mitsubishi L200 Series 6 Barbarian X has been the best-selling variant since the launch, accounting for 35% of all sales, thanks to its combination of SUV-like comfort and high specification, including advanced safety items such as Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Forward Collision Mitigation.

Commenting on the success of Mitsubishi L200, Toby Marshall, Director of Sales & Marketing, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK said, “Customers have really responded to the new L200’s striking looks, improved driving experience and even lower running costs, all of which builds on the model’s already stellar reputation for practicality, reliability and go-anywhere ruggedness. We are delighted the new L200 has got off to such a flying start and we are working hard to build on that success into 2020 and beyond.”
