Honda’s 2025 Pilot SUV Achieves Top Safety Rating

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded its highest accolade, the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating, to the 2025 Honda Pilot SUV. This recognition comes after the vehicle excelled in crash worthiness evaluations, pedestrian front crash prevention, and headlight performance tests.

The latest Pilot model features enhanced rear seat belts, improving second-row passenger protection in IIHS’s updated moderate overlap front test. With this achievement, Honda now boasts five models that have earned 2024 TSP ratings or higher.

Honda’s “Safety for Everyone” philosophy underpins the Pilot’s design. All 2025 models come equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite, which includes advanced driver-assistive technologies such as Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Pedestrian Detection and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The Pilot’s safety credentials are further bolstered by Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This proprietary design aims to protect occupants in various frontal collisions. The 2023 redesign introduced improvements to crash compatibility with smaller vehicles and enhanced protection in oblique frontal collisions.

For 2025, Honda engineers updated the load force settings on the outboard second-row seat retractors, addressing potential injuries identified in IIHS testing.

It’s worth noting that every fully evaluated Honda model in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2024 and 2025 NCAP testing has received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score.

The 2025 Pilot joins four other Honda models in achieving top IIHS safety ratings for 2024. These include the Accord and HR-V (both TSP+), as well as the CR-V and Odyssey (both TSP).
