After Acura Zone Sales Manager Luis Guerra graduated high school, he challenged himself by enlisting in the U.S. Army.
He never expected to be sent overseas to serve in active combat, but at the age of 18 he found himself serving in both Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield in the Persian Gulf War.
Inspired by his parents, who left Cuba to seek a better life in America and his father’s career in the auto industry, Guerra serves as a liaison between Acura and its dealers in the Chicago area. In this role, he supports dealer efforts to enhance their business and provide an incredible customer experience. Guerra is the latest subject of the What Makes a Honda is Who Makes a Honda video series.
“I love that everything we do at Acura and our direction with Precision Crafted Performance has evolved around racing. For me racing brings a level excitement and wanting to be the best,” said Guerra. ““If you don’t challenge yourself, you will never grow. The military brings out the challenging spirit in people and I love that. Honda has that same spirit.”
Guerra makes sure to have a healthy work-life balance, and emphasizes its importance with his team.
“I really try to look at what our family schedules are, to make sure I don’t miss those little things that are really big things,” he said. “I feel like I need to do everything I can to make the job the best I can possibly make it, both for myself and for the people who are part of my team.”
