308 RACING CUP: A big step towards the title for Julien Briche!

The 308 Racing Cup took place last weekend at the Magny-Cours circuit for the penultimate round of the year. The season started with extremely close competition in a tight duel between Jimmy Clairet and Julien Briché.

Now, the latter has one hand on the title after the two races at Magny-Cours. It’s been a decisive weekend in the battle to become the 2019 308 Racing Cup champion, with the top prize of a Peugeot 308 TCR car. In the Am and Junior categories, the title fight remains open, all the way to the final at the Paul Ricard circuit.

With just one week to go until the Spanish round of TCR Europe, and a month until the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup finale at Le Castellet, Julien Briché (#4 JSB Compétition) is only four points away from becoming 2019 champion thanks to the retirement of his key rival Jimmy Clairet (#21 Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport) in race 2. The two men each have five wins and are separated now by 40 points. It all looks set to come down to the first race at Paul Ricard.

It was also a good job last weekend from Johan Boris Scheier (#10 BRS Racing Team), who moved into third place in the championship standings at the expense of Xavier Fouineau, who has nonetheless been very consistent since the start of the season.

Julien Gilbert (#44 BRS Racing Team) – the local driver on this round – finished just off the podium twice, in his back garden. Currently he’s 25 points off the 308 Racing Cup provisional podium.

Another big duel last weekend was the one for the Junior title. Teddy Clairet (#1 Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport) took the leadership of the category ahead of Florian Briché (#24 JFM Racing) and Aurélien Renet (#2 JFM Racing) – the 2018 208 Racing Cup champion.

In the Am category (for amateur drivers without previous results aged over 25) Stéphane Ventaja (#81 Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport) holds the lead of the overall classification despite retiring from race 2.
